Community and Communal Gardens
We are well known and experienced in establishing and maintaining Community and Communal Gardens.

In particular we have extensive experience managing gardens in Social Housing locations - Social Housing can be home space managed by Government often called Public Housing or home space led by Community Housing organisations.

We will often partner and collaborate locally to solve challenges and create connection and green spaces that thrive. We support architects and designers to incorporate food based green gardens into their designs.

Our focus on strong social connections, creating better places and opportunity to thrive.

Public Housing gardens are mostly still individual plot spaces, but more and more green gardens are open spaces for everyone to share. A place to be active or passive in. Cultivating Community has a "green gathering' Communal model for these open spaces as well as governance, standards and skills to support traditional plot-based locations and alternatives.

We can build, design, maintain and run these spaces with our ultimate goal to do this with community as leaders in their own space.

Community gardens everywhere not only enhance the physical environment for people but also provide an inclusive gathering place, where people can come together across all cultures, lifestyles and backgrounds.

Cultivating Community respectfully acknowledges the peoples of the Kulin Nations, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we garden, cook and work. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture, and rich agricultural practises. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded.
