Public Housing Community Gardens

Our Role in Public Housing Community Gardens

Cultivating Community has a long history of involvement with Public Housing Community gardens.  Since 2002 we have been funded by the Victorian State Government to manage community gardens across 21 Public Housing estates, providing opportunities for low income communities to access healthy, affordable and culturally appropriate food.  Today we support over 700 gardeners to keep their food culture and traditions alive, making these community gardens a place of cultural sharing and harmony.

Government Support

Our funding for Community Gardens Support comes from the Victorian State Government.

We are fortunate that support for community gardens has been strong from all parts of the political spectrum, including the Kennett Government of the 1990′s, the Bracks and Brumby Labor Governments through the 2000′s, the Liberal Napthine Government and the current Labour Andrews Government.
